The polling for MLC elections has almost concluded even before the stipulated time. Out of the 175 MLAs, 174 legislators have registered the votes but all eyes are on that MLA who did not cast his vote yet. He is Nellimarla constituency MLA Appala Naidu and he has a valid reason.
MLA Appala Naidu’s son had entered wedlock on Thursday morning and so he was occupied with the wedding ceremony. Having taken the MLC elections seriously, the YCP made alternative arrangements for the MLA to cast his vote.
Accordingly a special chopper was deployed for MLA Appala Naidu to fly from Nellimarla, Vizianagaram to Vijayawada and this arrangement was made in minutes learning the MLA’s availability to cast his vote. This can be reckoned as the most costly MLC vote ever in history.
Appala Naidu is a true follower and loyalist of CM Jagan and so his vote would certainly go for the ruling party candidates. Post the completion of polling, the counting would commence and there is a tense environment in both YCP and TDP camps.
Even though YCP appears confident, TDP claiming that 16 MLAs are in touch with them and cross voting might happen have sent jitters to the ruling party.
