In a shameful incident, AP MLC from the East-West Godavari teachers’ constituency Shaik Sabji was caught in an illegal business at the holy shrine, Tirumala was busted. Going into details the TirumalaTirupati Devasthanams (TTD) vigilance and security wing were checking the details of devotees who had VIP darshan tickets.
For the VIP darshan, MLC Shaik Sabji contacted the temple EO but the official clarified that only 10 devotees will be allowed for each VVIP. Shaik Sabji arrived at the temple with other devotees and this is where the devotees were caught red-handed by the vigilance and security wing.
The vigilance officials found out that the devotees were having fake Aadhar cards and detained them. Upon questioning the devotees revealed that the MLC Shaik Sabji issued them the VIP darshan tickets and he charged Rs one Lakh from them.
Suspecting a big scam in this whole episode, the vigilance officials dug deep and rectified 19 recommendation letters from the MLC Shaik Sabji that were issued for VIP darshan tickets at the Tirumala temple during the last one month alone.
The MLC charged huge money from the devotees for the VIP darshan tickets and all the money was credited in his driver’s bank account. The vigilance department approached the Tirumala One Town Police to register their complaint.
TTD EO Dharma Reddy informed that illegal sales of VIP darshan tickets will not be tolerated and cited the example of Shaik Sabji who has a hand in this scam.
This is the first time that an elected member of the Legislative Council was caught in TTD VIP darshan tickets scam and this is a total disgrace. The YCP government should take serious action against the MLC.
