#WhyNot175: Jagan To Do Costly ‘Yagam’!

AP CM YS Jagan is super confident that his YCP will retain power in 2024. In fact his slogan was ‘Why Not 175’ to clean sweep all the Assembly constituencies including that of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu’s Kuppam. The reality seems to be far from different as Jagan is seeking divine intervention for a second term.

Going into details, the AP Endowment department is scheduled to host Raja Shyamala Yagna (Yagam) from May 12 to 17 at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada. An official statement from the endowment department reveals this yagna is being performed for farmers and agriculture sector in the state. The opposition suspect that this government sponsored yagna is being organised at the best interest of CM Jagan who wants to hold on to power under any circumstances.

Apparently Jagan took this divine inspiration from his counterpart i.e, Telangana CM KCR. During the 2018 elections, KCR performed Raja Shyamala Yagna at his farm house in Erravelli and after winning the elections, he hosted Sahasra Chandi Yagna. These religious events have given best results for KCR and later it turned into a trend in Telugu states.

Inspired by KCR, AP CM Jagan who is seeking another term, is in no mood to take chances and unofficially directed the endowment department to make appropriate arrangements for the yagna. With orders from CM, the endowment department swung into action and is busy with the preparatory works.

However, criticism is pouring on the AP government for organizing a religious event with taxpayers’ money. Orders have already been issued to all the departments to make elaborate arrangements at the Vijayawada Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium for this Raja shyamala Yagna. Accordingly Rs 10 crore funds were allotted and opposition allege that TTD is sponsoring Rs 2.5 crore for the yagna.

The opposition’s claim that they have no objection if CM Jagan hosts such an event in his personal capacity but misusing public money for his personal agenda is completely unacceptable.
