Son In Jail, Magunta Upset With Jagan?

Magunta Srinivasula Reddy is a worried man as his political clout has not helped him tide over the crisis. According to his followers, he is feeling slighted both by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and the YCP. Ahead of the elections, he is likely to take some crucial decisions which would have a bearing on the party.

For decades, the Magunta family was into liquor business yet Reddy and his son were charged in the multi-crore Delhi liquor scam. Though he could escape from being lodged in the prison, his son Raghava has been in the jail for the last three months. Even now, his son is still in the jail.

Srinivas Reddy is not happy with the YCP as it could not help his family from being framed in the scam, though the party has friendly relations with the BJP at the Centre. There is buzz that Reddy is feeling neglected by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as he had never gone to Delhi to speak about the liquor scam even while going frequently to discuss about YS Viveka’s murder case in which his cousin and YCP MP Avinash Reddy is the prime accused.

Further, he is also feeling ignored by the party leadership as only YV Subba Reddy and Adimulapu Suresh are being recognized as leaders from Prakasam district. Or else, the YCP leadership is involved in appeasing Balineni. Magunta is complaining that Jagan is not consulting him on any matter. It is learnt that Srinivas Reddy is dissatisfied over being sidelined in the party even when he is the Ongole MP. Srinivasula Reddy had won as the MP four times while his family won from the constituency half-a-dozen times.

Raghava Reddy has been lodged in Tihar jail on February 11 and he is still in the prison. His bail petition was rejected by the court yesterday too. Earlier, Srinivasula Reddy had conveyed his desire to make his son Raghava Reddy also an elected representative to the CM but he did not respond in a positive manner. Now, the party is now discussing to issue the ticket either to Subba Reddy or Balineni.
