Can YCP Dare To Counter Amit Shah?

The BJP is reckoned as the opposition in Andhra Pradesh but when it comes to policies initiated by the government of India, it receives unconditional support from the ruling YCP government. Moreover we hardly see the YCP leaders countering the BJP or criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Simultaneously the BJP leaders too support AP CM Jagan Reddy & Co.

Amidst this political landscape, some notable developments have been occurring between the BJP and YCP. Are both parties at loggerheads, ahead of the 2024 elections? Recently, the AP BJP held two public gatherings in the state over the weekend. BJP National President JP Nadda was the guest at the meeting in Tirupathi, where he launched an attack on the YCP. In response, YCP spokespersons Perni Nani and Kodali Nani wasted no time in hitting back at Nadda.

On Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah was the guest at the meeting in Vizag. He did not hold back in criticizing the YCP government, accusing CM Jagan of corruption and bringing up the issue of marijuana smuggling. Amit Shah stated, “If marijuana is caught anywhere in the country, its roots are in Andhra Pradesh, which shows the state government’s inefficiency. Additionally, Andhra Pradesh ranks third in farmers’ suicides, which is a matter of shame for the YCP.”

This criticism will put the YCP on the defensive, but can their so-called mouthpieces retaliate? While JP Nadda may not be considered as powerful within the BJP, the same cannot be said for Amit Shah. He holds considerable power, almost on par with Prime Minister Modi. Therefore, it remains to be seen if the YCP will dare to counter Amit Shah.
