Khanapur BRS MLA Rekha Naik is set to join the Congress party today. Peeved over denial of BRS ticket to her, she alleged that she was refused a ticket due to fear that she should be made a minister if she wins this time too.
Rekha Naik, belonging to the ST community, had already won from the Khanapur constituency twice.
Her husband Shyam Naik had already joined the Congress.
Not finding her name in the BRS first list released by party president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao yesterday, she became emotional.
“I do not have parents or siblings. I am with the people and will continue to live with them forever, serving them,” she said.
Dissent began brewing among many BRS ticket aspirants even before the release of the first list.
While a few were disappointed that they were not selected for the candidature by the party boss, some others began planning to switch sides to other political parties.
There is buzz that many of the BRS leaders are looking at the Congress.
Meanwhile, one BRS leader from Madhira constituency also warned the BRS top brass of serious consequences.
Another BRS leader Nalla Manohar Reddy had already resigned from the party.
There will be more exodus from the BRS in the coming days, predicted political observers.
