Probably for the first time in the country, the BRS government has launched CM Breakfast Scheme which is aimed at benefiting as many as 20 lakh schoolchildren studying in government schools of Telangana. Under the scheme, nutritious food would be served to the school-going children which would be very much helpful to the underprivileged sections of the society. A majority of the children belonging to the economically poorer sections go without breakfast and this initiative by the BRS government will really be of great help to them.
Already, the mid-day meal scheme has proven to be of great help to the children in the government schools across the country. The scheme being implemented by the central government helped the governments reduce the dropouts from schools and also encouraged girl child education.
In neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, the YCP government led by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had even tweaked with the nid-day meal menu and included the protein-rich chikki and egg curry into the menu. The mid-day meal yojana programme is being called Jagananna Gorumudda in AP.
The BRS government’s initiative to provide breakfast to the children is being hailed by teachers, parents and the public alike. Though there is buzz that the scheme was initiated in view of the fast approaching elections in Telangana, hope it would be continued and yield good results.
