The Election Commission of India announced the election schedule and dates for Telangana and four other states in a recent press conference.

Telangana is set for Legislative Assembly elections on November 30, with the gazette notification to be issued on November 3. Vote counting is scheduled for December 3. Candidates must submit nominations by November 10, and the last day for withdrawal of candidate applications is November 15. Application scrutiny will take place on November 13.

In Telangana, there have been significant updates to the electoral rolls, with 17.1 lakh additions and 6 lakh deletions. Moreover, there have been 6.24 lakh modifications and 3.35 lakh additions of youngsters aged between 18-19.

Rajiv Kumar, Chief Election Commissioner of India, urged citizens to actively participate in the electoral process. He highlighted the registration of 60.20 lakh new voters across the states and emphasized that candidates with a criminal history should publish their history three times in newspapers, TV, and digital media. Political parties were also urged to explain why they chose these candidates.

To enhance oversight and ensure inducement-free elections, the Election Seizure Management System is being introduced for the five assembly polls.

Telangana boasts 3 crore voters spread across 119 constituencies, comprising 1.58 crore female voters, 1.58 crore male voters, and 2,557 transgender voters.
