Will Throw Out Andhra Settlers, Warns T Minister

Hyderabad city has a lot of settlers from Andhra and Rayalaseema regions. As the Assembly elections are in the fray, political parties are wooing their best for settler votes. Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest, protests of various IT employees and Andhra settlers has snowballed into a political issue in Hyderabad.

While ruling BRS is cautioned and tight-lipped on Naidu’s arrest, here comes Telangana’s Food & Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar who seems to have made threatening comments. He revoked the Telangana – Andhra sentiment again. He also threatened Andhra voters to throw out of state if they support the Congress party.

Gangula Kamalakar alleged, “Once again, Andhras people want to re-enter Telangana state through the Congress party. If anyone from Andhra settlers supports or votes for Congress, we’ll throw you out.” Kamalakar’s comments are direct and open threat. This goes against the Election Commission’s rules and guidelines. This falls under hate-speech ahead of the general election. As the EC announced the schedule, currently the election code is in place. One has to wait and watch whether the EC would take Gangula Kamalakar’s comments suo moto. As such provocative statements may lead to violence and any untoward incidents.
