Will KCR be another NTR?

NTR, the pride of Telugu people, has many records to his credit not just in films but in politics too. Not only did he contest from 2-3 constituencies at the same time, he also won from all the constituencies.

Now, the reason behind remembering NTR at this moment is the increasing buzz among the electorate if Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao would be able to script history like NTR, in the upcoming elections.

KCR is also contesting from two constituencies simultaneously this time.   It is usual for politicians to contest from two constituencies at the same time. In the 2019 general elections, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi contested from Uttar Pradesh and Wayanad in Kerala simultaneously but won only from Kerala. Similarly, Indira Gandhi contested from Medak. Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan also contested from two constituencies during the 2019 elections.

Though contesting from two constituencies is not new, many political leaders would win from only one constituency. It is but rare to win from both constituencies they contest. NTR created a record by winning from both constituencies. In 1985, NTR contested from three constituencies – Nalgonda, Hindupur and Gudivada and registered victory from all the three places.

Then, NTR retained Hindupur and resigned from other two constituencies. In 1989 too, he made a similar attempt.  He stood in the fray from Kalvakurthy and Hindupur and won from the latter. There are many others who had done this feat.

This time, KCR is contesting from his stronghold Gajwel and Kamareddy too. Time alone will reveal people’s verdict.
