BRS is being stripped off power in Telangana with the party having to settle with around 40 seats. The Congress Party is coming to power with a comfortable lead, and the party has already delivered an unexpected blow to BRS.
While the counting is still going on, BRS MLA from Bhadrachalam, Tellam Venkat Rao has announced that he is leaving BRS to join the Congress Party. He spoke with his supporters briefly before making this announcement.
He didn’t even wait for the counting to be completed and for the returning officer to give him the certification of victory from the Bhadrachalam assembly constituency, such was his hurry to leave BRS and join Congress.
Tellam is likely to join Congress on 8 December. BRS leaders have taken serious note of this as they are anguished about the MLA for shifting to Congress even before the counting gets completed. They are threatening to complain against him to the Election Commission.
If the EC receives a complaint against Tellam, his victory will not be overruled but the result might be kept on hold as he announced switching parties even before the results were announced. We have to wait and see how this story ends.
