Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has issued directives to Collectors, SPs, and the entire government machinery to remain vigilant and promptly initiate relief measures in areas affected by the Michaung cyclone.
He emphasized the Collectors’ responsibility in preventing loss of life, both human and livestock, and underscored the urgency of safeguarding the harvested Kharif crop. The Chief Minister stressed the immediate collection and purchase of harvested grain, allocating Rs. 2 crore for each district’s emergency expenses.
In a video conference with officials from the eight cyclone-affected districts, namely Tirupati, Nellore, Prakasam, Bapatla, Krishna, West Godavari, Konaseema, and Kakinada, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy urged a high level of alertness.
Drawing upon the state’s experience with past storms like Hudhud, he emphasized the need for a proactive approach, even if the current situation does not mirror previous severe storms.
The Chief Minister highlighted the potential storm crossing near Bapatla on Tuesday afternoon, bringing gusty winds of up to 110 km per hour and rainfall, as forecasted by IMD officials. He urged officials to assess the damage promptly once the rain subsides, ensuring a swift and effective response to the crisis.
