Congress-Sharmila, A Big Plan In Andhra?

Finally, YSRTP president Y.S. Sharmila is likely to play a prominent role in politics.

There is speculation that Sharmila, daughter of former CM Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, is likely to gain prominence in the political landscape.

Though she floated her party with the lofty ideal of establishing ‘Rajanna Rajyam’ in Telangana, Sharmila failed to gain significance both in the public and political arena alike.

Understanding the dynamics of politics and her abilities, she tried to avert humiliation by abstaining from contesting the polls and rallying behind the Congress. However, she covered up the issue saying that if her party stood in the fray, it would indirectly help the BRS gain power.

Setting aside this equation, the Congress has reportedly focused on elevating the status of Sharmila either as an MP to the Rajya Sabha or use her services during the Andhra Pradesh polls.

According to source in Gandhi Bhavan, the party leadership is of the opinion to send her to the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka, as a thankful gesture for supporting the party in the Assembly elections.

At the same time, there is buzz that the Congress is planning to use Sharmila’s services strategically during the campaigning in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

Recently, APCC chief Gidugu Rudra Raju also elicited the same opinion.

However, there is no clarity on when Sharmila would be given an elevation or if she would be sent to the Rajya Sabha or be the Congress’ face of poll campaign in Andhra Pradesh.
