On Monday, CM Jagan will officially launch the enhanced Dr. YSR Aarogyasri program, increasing the treatment cost to ₹25 lakh. The current limit for free healthcare insurance under Aarogyasri in the state is ₹10 lakh. During the launch event at the camp office, the CM will distribute upgraded smart Aarogyasri cards and initiate an awareness program on accessing free medical facilities under Aarogyasri.
Aarogyasri initiated by the then United AP Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy was a big Hit, and later all the governments continued the scheme, now ahead of 2024 Assembly elections Jagan moved a step forward by increasing the limit to Rs 25 Lakhs.
As part of the program, ANMs, CHOs, Asha workers, volunteers, women police, MLAs, and other public representatives will visit households to ensure that at least one person in every household downloads the Aarogyasri App. The state government aims to reach out to all 1.48 crore families and 4.25 crore beneficiaries to create awareness about the benefits of the new scheme.
The improved Aarogyasri card will include a QR code, the beneficiary’s photo, the name and phone number of the head of the family, details of family members, and the ABHA ID of the beneficiary embedded in the form of an electronic health record. The QR code embedded in the Aarogyasri card will allow doctors and staff to access the patient’s previous medical history, including diagnostic test reports, treatment status, and doctor’s recommendations for optimal care. The card will also provide information about nearby hospitals, directions to those hospitals via Google Maps, and contact numbers for Aarogya Mitra.
