YS Sharmila has gone back to the political camp where her father YSR prospered as she joined Congress today. She is officially a Congress party member now and will be active in AP and Telangana politics from the day forth. Sharmila joining in Congress has gotten two diverse reactions from YSRCP.
MLA Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, who is a very close associate of Jagan, spoke with the media after Sharmila joined Congress today and said anyone who is in Congress is an enemy of YCP. He called Congress party leaders as traitors of Andhra Pradesh as they are with the party that damaged AP by irrational bifurcation. He took potshots at Sharmila indirectly by referring to her as an enemy of YCP and its president Jagan Reddy.
YCP firebrand Kodali Nani also responded to the matter but he had an opposite reaction to that of Peddireddy’s. “We don’t care what Sharmila does. The Congress party is irrelevant in AP and so are the leaders who are with that lifeless party. Our vote bank will not be divided by Sharmila’s presence in Congress. Did TDP’s vote bank divide after Purandeshwari joined BJP? Same thing will happen with Sharmila and Congress.”
YV Subba Reddy, a close family member of Jagan and Sharmila said YCP doesn’t care about other party’s alliances. He said he can’t speak more about Sharmila at this point in time. He tried not to go up directly against Sharmila and that is understood considering that is an uncle of Sharmila.
YCP had three opposite reactions to Sharmila joining Congress. The party will start to open up more and more as Sharmila starts campaigning for Congress and comes up against Jagan in AP.
