Will Voters Accept Kavya?

In a span of two weeks, Kadiyam Srihari and his daughter Kavya went from being BRS leaders to Congress leaders. Kavya went a step ahead and secured herself the Congress MP ticket from Warangal. But getting the MP ticket is just the first step as the main big step is to appeal to the voters that she is a worthy candidate.

If we observe the electoral history of Warangal, the voters here never sided with significant political party defectors. Those who stay with one party until polls and immediately shift to another party are not encouraged here.

In the case of Kadiyam Kavya, she switched to Congress saying she can’t develop Warangal which she is with the opposition party. The timing of this defection is that it came two weeks after she was announced as the BRS candidate. In such a case, will Warangal voters accept this political defection?

Not just Warangal people, but also Telangana voters in general have delivered a clear message that they are against such political games. This was seen in the case of BRS as the party lost the 2023 election after KCR dismantled Congress in 2018 by grabbing 12 of Congress’s 19 MLAs. This political defection saga was not welcomed by the public and it is said to be one of the reasons voters decided to dethrone BRS and give the power to Congress this term.

In such a scenario, can Kavya justify her move from BRS to Congress just weeks before the polls? Will Warangal voters approve her political move?
