Janasena president Pawan Kalyan has been setting the narrative for his party cadres and leaders that certain sacrifices must be made in terms of MLA/MP ticket allocation as the greater good of the alliance is above all else. But despite the clear message from Pawan, there are certain discrepancies in a few assembly segments, and here is one such major jolt to JSP right before the election.
JSP spokesperson and the party candidate from Vijayawada West assembly constituency in 2019, Pothina Mahesh has quit the party. He submitted his resignation letter to the party hierarchy today and is no longer a part of the JSP outfit.
This decision from Pothina Mahesh comes in view of the Vijayawada West seat going to the BJP as a part of the seat distribution. BJP has fielded the financially sound Sujana Chowdary here and he has started the election campaigning as well.
Agitated by the development, Pothina Mahesh held multiple protests through his supporter group but it accounted for nothing as the decision was made at the higher level and Sujana was announced as the candidate. With no doors open for him in JSP, the firebrand leader has quit the party today.
Pothina came 3rd in the electoral race from Vijayawada West in 2019 but he was loyal to JSP and hoped to get the ticket again this term, which wasn’t to be. As of now, YSRCP and Congress are the two plausible options in front of him. Where will he head next? We will know by the end of this week.
