Lowest of Lows: Deep Fake Audio Tape To Defame Bhuvaneswari

All her life, Chandrababu Naidu’s wife Nara Bhuvaneswari stood away from politics. But she was dragged into an ugly defamation fiasco in the AP assembly when certain YCP MLAs spoke badly about her to the extent that Chandrababu cried in front of the media after the assembly session.

But this irrational defamation of Bhuvaneswari hasn’t come to a halt yet. There is a new social media bombarding campaign against Bhuvaneswari where a fake audio clipping claiming to be Bhuvaneswari’s verbal altercation is being circulated on social media.

This clipping is widely carried by the main anti-TDP group on social media and the intention is to project the senior stateswoman in bad light. The worst of casteist slurs are used in this video which is being propagated in the name of Bhuvaneswari. The contents of the clipping are aimed at showing TDP in poor light in the eyes of SC/ST/BC communities.

Telugu Desam immediately gunned down this propaganda by stating that this is a work of Deep Fake technology. This Deep Fake technology was earlier used to create morphed pics of heroines and now, it is used to spread a smear campaign on Bhuvaneswari who holds a respectable position in society. The Telugu Desam ecosystem and a handful of tech experts have struck down this Deep Fake propaganda against a respectable lady with a clean social image.

Exchanging political challenges and remarks is one thing, but brining in wives and family members of politicians is the lowest of lows and must be condemned by all parties. Such practices will not just affect the political equilibrium but also the social fabric. A line must be drawn and it must be drawn immediately.
