Upon the order of the Election Commission, the outgoing DGP of AP, K Rajendranath Reddy was relieved of his duties effective immediately. The EC acted quickly in appointing a new DGP.
According to the new order issued by the EC, Harish Gupta has been named as the new DGP of Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Gupta will be taking charge as the new DGP by 5 PM today and he will be the top cop of AP. The EC has entrusted him with the responsibility of maintaining law and order in the state in the foreseeable future after the previous DGP Rajendranath Reddy faced allegations of misrule by the opposition leaders.
Harish Gupta is an IPS officer of the 1992 batch and he has been operating as a key part of the AP Home Department.
