Former CM Of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan’s YSRC party will support BJP MP Om Birla in the Lok Sabha Speaker’s post on Wednesday’s election.
YSRCP won 22 out of 25 MP seats in the 2019 election but was confined to just 4 MP seats in the 2024 election as Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP alliance took away 21 MP seats.
YS Jagan decided to support BJP MP Om Birla in the Lok Sabha Speaker post-election with 4 votes, though the BJP already has enough votes to emerge victorious.
YSRCP has often supported the BJP in Parliament, mostly in the Rajya Sabha, and helped it pass laws when needed. With YSRCP’s 4 additional votes, BJP’s Om Biral will have the support of 297 MPs. BJP has 240 votes from its own MPs and 53 from NDA partners including TDP’s 16.
