Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan once again iterated his commitment to public service. He refused to take the salary for the 3-4 days he had attended the Secretariat and refrained from having his camp office repaired or buying new furniture for it.
When the Secretariat staff asked him how would he like his office to be repaired, Pawan said there was no need to do anything and he also said that he would get his own furniture for his office. At the same time Pawan Kalyan examples who the earlier government spent 600 Crs on Rushikonda palace by not addressing basic issues in villages.
Pawan said that the Secretariat staff asked him to sign on the concerned papers to draw a salary of Rs 10,000 for the 3-4 days he attended the Secretariat. “I did not feel like signing on the papers. Every wing in the panchayat raj department has loads and loads of loans.”
“I actually thought of working taking the salary but when I began looking into the allocation, expenditure and loans of the panchayat raj department, I felt there is a need to correct everything there. There are thousands of crores of debts taken under the department’s name. I felt it was wrong to at least take the salary at this moment. Sp, I told the Secretariat staff that I would relinquish my salary and work for the cause of my state’s development.”
These words echo the patriotism in Pawan Kalyan and many youth, who are his fans, can also resonate with his feelings. It is necessary for a leader to set a precedent and then ask his supporters to emulate it.
If the youth in the state can connect with Pawan Kalyan’s feelings and work with him in their own capability, taking a vow that they would relentlessly put in efforts for the progress, Andhra Pradesh will certainly tread the path of development in the coming few years.
