Though the former chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and KCR, appeared to share a good personal rapport, this was not reflected at the state level. During their tenure, there were always issues between the two governments on matters like Krishna water distribution, pending power charges post-bifurcation, and several other fronts.
However, the new NDA and Congress governments in the Telugu states now seem to be on a mission to resurrect positive relations.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy hinted at this in a public meeting last night. “It is important that Andhra Pradesh and Telangana develop together. AP and TG must not compete with each other on development; instead, we must compete together on a global level in terms of the development index,” Revanth Reddy confidently said.
This is a positive statement from the Telangana chief minister and could go a long way in enhancing the development index. Such positive ties could help foster mutual development in the Telugu states through knowledge exchanges and logistical support.
Incidentally, both Chandrababu Naidu and Revanth Reddy could soon meet at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Although they do not have an official meeting scheduled, they might have a brief interaction if they come across each other at the summit. We’ll have to see if the point raised by Revanth today comes up during their conversation.
