One Nation, One Time – What’s This All About?

Since Narendra Modi assumed the role of Prime Minister, several changes have been taking place across the country. Until then, previous governments had largely followed the same old systems and processes. However, Modi has been different, meticulously analyzing every small detail and making necessary changes where required. One such new initiative that has sparked nationwide discussion is the concept of One Nation, One Election.

While the One Nation, One Election system is still under consideration for implementation, the government is now focused on another significant reform: One Nation, One Time. To implement this, the Modi government has drafted a policy and is seeking feedback from the public. The deadline for collecting these opinions is set for the 14th of next month. Based on the feedback received, the government will decide whether any changes or amendments are needed before moving forward with its implementation.

As for the One Nation, One Time proposal, it suggests that all government activities across the country should operate under the same standard time. This includes not just official government functions, but also key commercial operations that contribute to the nation’s development. The plan calls for the entire country to adopt Indian Standard Time (IST) for various sectors, including commerce, administration, transportation, legal contracts, and financial activities.

Furthermore, it mandates that Indian Standard Time (IST) should be uniformly applied across the nation. This means that whether it’s Kashmir or Kanyakumari, the same time zone will be observed everywhere. No region will be allowed to follow a different time zone for any activity.
