Upasana & Renu Voice Against Telangana Govt’s HCU Land Move

Since the Revanth Reddy government took charge in Telangana, several major controversies have emerged. Over the past year, there has been significant unrest due to the government’s strong stance on encroachments. While the government’s intentions were good, there was criticism over the approach of demolishing houses without addressing the root causes or focusing on the mistakes made over decades, leaving many families homeless. Due to increasing opposition, the government has somewhat toned down its aggressive approach recently.

Now, the situation has escalated with the Telangana government’s decision to take control of 400 acres of land within the Hyderabad Central University (HCU) jurisdiction in Gachibowli and convert it for real estate activities. Environmentalists are up in arms, claiming that the area, which is home to green trees and wildlife, is being destroyed. HCU students have been protesting in large numbers, with support from both BRS and BJP.

As protests continue to grow, even the film industry has begun to voice its support. Director Nag Ashwin, who had already reacted to the land dispute, shared a social media post saying “This is our karma,” which sparked much discussion. Now, several other film personalities are also speaking up. Upasana Konidela, the wife of Ram Charan, posted about the issue, questioning whether the animals and birds in the area would be relocated and whether the trees would be planted elsewhere.

On the other hand, Renu Desai spoke more strongly in her post, urging the government not to destroy the land for future generations. She requested that other lands be used for development instead. Actor Prakash Raj also criticized the government’s approach. Other celebrities like Samantha, Isha Rebba, and Rashmi have also joined the campaign, urging the government to save the land, animals, and trees. It seems that the land issue is quickly gaining momentum and could hit the reputation of Revanth Reddy’s government.
