On Sunday, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the New Pamban Railway Bridge in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, marking a key achievement in India’s infrastructure development. The bridge is India’s first vertical lift railway sea bridge, a major innovation in indigenous engineering. Using a remote control, PM Modi operated the bridge’s vertical lift span, allowing a Coast Guard ship to pass underneath.
The Prime Minister also flagged off a new train service between Rameswaram and Tambaram (Chennai), improving regional connectivity and making travel easier for both commuters and pilgrims. The inauguration event was attended by various leaders, including Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and other officials. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin was absent due to prior commitments.
