MS Dhoni has been an integral part of the Indian Premier League right from the very day. It was inaugurated back in 2008. He is one of the very few players in the league to be active from the inception and still continuing to go strong.
However, every year there is a lot of debate about the possible retirement of Dhoni and the same is the case this year as well.
Even in last game, there was some pretty substantial development in this regard. When Dhoni’s family, including his mother and father came to the stadium in Chennai to watch the game, many people thought Dhoni would be announcing his retirement after the game. But Dhoni did not issue any communication to this effect.
In his latest interaction, he was asked about retirement and he gave a yearly conclusive response. “ I am 43 years old now. Once this season is done and by the time, the next season starts, I will be 44. It is then when I will have to decide whether I can be a part of the tournament or not. There is still 10 to 12 months to go for this.” Dhoni said.
The very fact that Dhoni referred to the next season, while talking about his retirement is pretty much an indication that he is not going to retire at the end of this season either. He made it clear that he will listen to his body and decide on whether or not to continue next season based on the situation, next March or April – Whenever the next season starts.
