The recent deforestation drive involving the 400 acres HCU lands in Kanche Gachibowli is one of the most debated and controversial issues in Telangana politics. However, the argument made by the Telangana government is that the issue was blown out of proportion using artificial intelligence videos and morphed pictures.
In this context, the Telangana government has started to go hard against everyone who shared artificial intelligence footage of this incident.
Incidentally, this legal approach taken by the Telangana government has landed one of Telangana’s own IAS cadres Smita Sabharwal in a legal mess. A police case has been filed against the IAS officer for resharing a AI generated post regarding the HCU lands issue.
Earlier, a X(twitter) page had shared a Ghibli art image of the HCU lands issue on March 31. This AI generated post depicts animals being threatened by bulldozers. This post was retweeted by the official Twitter handle of Smita.
With a Telangana cadre IAS officer herself sharing fabricated stuff, Telangana government has taken the issue very seriously. Gachibowli police have registered a case on Smita and she is due to face the legal consequences now.
Cabinet minister Sridhar babu stated that the government will take all necessary legal action against the IAS officer for her actions. Will not often be IAS officers themselves coming under the legal radar for such social media activities.
