Big Breaking: India Shuts Wagah Border, Orders Pakistanis To Leave!

The top leadership of the Indian government led by Prime Minister Modi and external affairs minister. Jai Shankar held a high-level, high-priority meeting in Delhi today. This comes 24 hours after the fatal terror attack that happened in the deaths of 27 Indian citizens.

The government of India took five big decisions at this high priority meeting and let us have a look at the same.

The first and foremost decision is the closure of the Wagah Atari border effective immediately. All the Pakistani nationals in India have been ordered to leave the country in the next 48 hours.

The Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan has been put in abeyance, and the Indian diplomatic mission will now operate with 30 members at a reduced capacity.

Pakistani military diplomats have been declared persona non grata and expelled. They have seven days to leave India before further measures are taken. Additionally, SAARC visas for Pakistani citizens have been cancelled, while the Wagah-Attari border is being closed.

And also, India is withdrawing its air and naval advisors in the Indian high commission in Islamabad, effective immediately.

For those wondering about the Indus Water treaty, it was signed in 1960 with World Bank mediation. The Indus Water Treaty gave Pakistan control over the Indus, Jhelum & Chenab, while India got the eastern rivers – Beas, Ravi & Sutlej. Experts say it can’t be revoked unilaterally.

In any case, such disruption could absolutely cripple Pakistan’s agri economy.
