Ministers take Bribes, says Telangana Minister!

Senior Telangana Congress leader and current minister Konda Surekha stirred a political storm with her comments on the other day. At a public event on Thursday night, she claimed that government work was moving slowly because Ministers will only clear files after receiving their share of money. While making this statement, she said, “Ministers are not working without bribes. They look at money before signing files. But I am not like that. I clear files without taking a single rupee.”

These remarks quickly went viral and sparked criticism from opposition parties. BJP leader and Union Minister Kishan Reddy strongly reacted and demanded that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy launch an immediate investigation. Leaders from BRS also expressed their anger, saying they had been raising concerns about corruption for a long time, but no one paid attention. They claimed that now even a minister from the ruling government has confirmed it.

As backlash grew, Konda Surekha took a sudden U-turn. She claimed her words were twisted by the media. She explained that her comments were about the ministers during the previous BRS government, not the current administration. She said the media misrepresented her speech to target the present government.

However, critics are questioning why she had to mention that she was the only one clearing files without bribes if her comments were not about current ministers. Her attempt to shift blame onto the media has raised more eyebrows, with many pointing out that public statements by ministers should be clear and responsible.

What was said by Konda Surekha caused enough damage before the clarification came. Whether it was a slip of the tongue or something more serious, the controversy has now put Konda Surekha and her government in a tight spot.
