One of the main focus areas for Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has been the robust development of Amaravati as the state capital. This agenda was also a key part of his recent trip to Delhi.
During one of his interactions there, Chandrababu Naidu expressed his vision to develop a world-class airport in Amaravati to boost the capital’s growth potential.
Babu recently visited the Bengaluru International Airport and conducted an in-depth study of the newly opened Terminal 2. So impressed was he by the facility that he personally met with the operations chief to understand the airport’s development and functioning.
Shortly after his return to Delhi to discuss current political matters, Babu shared his idea of transforming Amaravati into a world-class capital, highlighting that such infrastructure is essential to enhance a city’s growth index and revenue potential.
Although there are no immediate plans to begin construction on the airport, the concept has clearly taken root in Babu’s mind. He also drew a parallel with the Hyderabad airport project, which he had spearheaded during his earlier tenure. That project was successfully developed using private investments without burdening the state’s finances—a model he now proposes for Amaravati’s airport as well.
