There is increasing talk within the Andhra Pradesh Congress party about whether PCC Chief YS Sharmila is making the wrong moves. Discussions are happening from two angles. One is about her personal approach and the other is about how she is handling party matters. Both have become major points of debate within party circles.
Right now, it is clear that Sharmila is mostly fighting a lonely battle. Wherever she conducts meetings or events, the response from the public has been minimal. Senior party leaders are not showing up or standing beside her either. While these issues are not openly talked about, behind the scenes, the concerns are very real.
Recently, party in charge Manickam Tagore reportedly held a phone call meeting with state leaders and these concerns were reportedly discussed. Sharmila expressed that she is not receiving proper support from the party and that she is being left alone. However, Manickam also presented the other side. He pointed out that senior leaders feel ignored and said she has not been consulting anyone before taking key steps.
He made it clear that the party cannot grow if individual agendas take the lead. He stressed the need for collective leadership and said that all leaders should be included in the efforts to take the party closer to the public. Without change, he warned that the party may continue to struggle.
Now the spotlight is on Sharmila. Will she adjust her approach or continue on the same path? That remains to be seen.
