In a setback to AP state government over the celebration of Swami Swaroopananda birthday in the Hindu Temples across the state, AP High Court has suspended the orders issued by the Endowments Department. Responding to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), the High Court made the above observation. The court has suspended the government’s memorandum issuing special privileges on the eve of Swami Swaroopananda’s birthday.
Vishaka Sri Sarada Peetham founder Swami Swaroopanandendra Saraswati’s birthday falls on November 18. The Endowment Department passed orders to the temples across the state to conduct special pooja. Temples right from the Arasavalli Temple in Srikakulam district to Srikalahasti Temple in Chittoor district have been told to do special pooja in his name.
This memorandum of the state government turned controversial for the special privilege for an individual seer. Opposition parties have opposed the move and a PIL was subsequently filed. CM Jagan’s equation and bond with Swami Swaroopananda needs no introduction. Hence the HC order is uninviting for CM Jagan.
