It looks like US President Donald Trump will not stop until he gets the coveted Nobel Peace Prize. After making repeated claims that he mediated peace between India and Pakistan and stopped the war, and despite the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister of External Affairs, and other diplomats denying Trump, the American president has reiterated his ceasefire claims.
Addressing the media on the sidelines of the ongoing NATO summit in The Hague, Netherlands, Donald Trump once again highlighted his efforts in de-escalating tensions between the rival nations, India and Pakistan. Trump claimed that he prevented a potential nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan.
Trump talked about how he was instrumental in stopping the conflicts between several warring nations, such as Israel-Palestine, Israel-Iran, Russia-Ukraine, Rwanda-Congo, and the Serbian ethnic conflict. Calling the India-Pak war the “most important of them all,” the POTUS said, “Both the countries have nuclear weapons, and I made them a series of phone calls and told them we won’t do a trade deal if you don’t stop the war.” Both India and Pakistan were like, ‘No, no, you have to do a trade deal with us.”
As usual, Trump went on to call Pakistani Army General Asim Munir “a very impressive man” and Indian PM Narendra Modi “a great gentleman and a great friend.” “When I told both of them we’re not going to do a trade deal with them if they’re not stopping the war, you know what, both of them told me, ‘No, we want to do a trade deal with you, we’re not going for a nuclear war.'”
Meanwhile, there has been a growing resistance to Trump’s pompous claims among Indians. Netizens demand PM Modi make a formal announcement refuting President Trump’s non-stop claims. “Our external affairs minister denied the claim, our foreign secretary also denied the claim, still Mr Trump repeating the same thing. Why hasn’t Prime Minister Modi ji denied or countered President Trump’s claim?” a netizen posted on X.
