Historically speaking, Andhra Pradesh politics have heavily depended on caste centric census. And statistically speaking, there are two castes that have ruled the united Andhra Pradesh state predominantly. These two castes are Kamma and Reddy, both of which produced the most number of chief ministerial terms.
In this context, a controversial statement has been issued by this one Ramachandra Yadav, who launched his own political party in the name of BCY in Vijayawada yesterday.
While addressing the media, Yadav said it is time for Andhra Pradesh to look away from Reddy and Kamma communities as they’ve already enjoyed and abused power over the years.
“Andhra Pradesh has historically seen chief ministers only from two communities and they are from the Reddy and Kamma communities. The likes of senior NTR, YS Rajasekhar Reddy, Chandrababu Naidu and Jaganmohan Reddy have all come from these two communities. It is time to end the dominance of these two communities and BCs take the lead. In fact, Reddy and Kamma communities must be banned from politics.” He said.
However, they were proposal of banning these two communities or any other community for that matter is against the Constitution. This stands no legal precedence.
On top of that, the BC community has historically rallied with the Telugu Desam party and their loyalties are very clear. At this point, there is no vacuum for some other party to fill on, let alone the prospect of banning the fundamentally strong YCP and TDP.
