A passenger plane operated by Angara Airlines has crashed in Russia’s Amur region on July 24, 2025. The aircraft, an Antonov An 24, was carrying around 49 people, including 43 passengers and 6 crew members. Among the passengers were five children.
The flight departed from Khabarovsk and was on its way to Tynda, with a stop in Blagoveshchensk. As the plane neared Tynda, it lost contact with air traffic control. It attempted to land but could not succeed on the first try. The crew reportedly went for a second attempt, but the plane then disappeared from radar.
Poor weather conditions, including low clouds and rain, were reported in the area at the time and may have contributed to the crash.
A rescue helicopter confirmed that the plane’s fuselage was on fire when spotted. The Russian emergencies ministry later confirmed that the plane had crashed and was destroyed. As of now, there is no official word on the survivors.
More information on the passengers and what caused the crash is expected soon.
