The Special Investigation Team (SIT) looking into the major liquor scam that occurred during the YSR Congress Party’s rule has already arrested 13 people, including MP Midhun Reddy. While most of the accused are currently lodged in Vijayawada Jail, Midhun Reddy is being held in Rajahmundry Central Jail.
Now, in a new development, the SIT has filed a fresh petition in the Vijayawada ACB court seeking permission to arrest 12 more individuals linked to the same case. Among the names listed, one has drawn special attention. YSRCP MP Avinash Reddy.
So far, Avinash Reddy’s name had not surfaced in this case, and there was no official questioning of him either. But the latest petition lists him as Accused Number 7. Others named include Purushottam, Anirudh Reddy, Eshwar Kiran Kumar Reddy, Sheikh Saif, Bollaram Shiva, Simon, Rajeev Pratap, Kommareddy Avinash Reddy, Mohan Kumar, Anil Kumar Reddy, and Sujal Behren.
The SIT claims these individuals played key roles in the scam and should also be arrested. Some of them are reportedly staying abroad, and if the court allows, red corner notices may be issued to bring them back to India.
So far, the SIT has officially named 43 individuals in connection with this case. With 13 already under arrest and petitions filed for 12 more, the investigation appears to be picking up pace. However, officers noted that the financial trail, where the scam money ultimately ended up is still being tracked. They believe more critical details will emerge once the remaining suspects are also arrested.
