One of the hallmark significant events that changed the course of Andhra Pradesh politics is the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu back in 2023. This triggered the collapse of the YSR Congress government in the 2024 election and laid the foundation for the NDA government.
In this connection, YS Jagan made a largely contextual yet ironically self contradictory statement while interacting with YCP legal cell today.
While speaking about the rest of his party, MP Midhun Reddy, and a few other leaders, Jagan said “Arresting a person means defending his dignity and grabbing his goodwill. This is beyond pathetic. This government is creating false evidence and fake proofs to several of our leaders.”
While it is a good thing that Jagan has noted that arresting a person means “Playing with the dignity and respect of the individual”, the core point is that he must have brought it to implantation when it mattered the most.
TDP supporters are pointing out that the very same Jagan had farcically arrested Chandrababu who had served as CM for three terms and is one of the most respected politicians in the country.
Babu was arrested in the questionable skills scam case without substantiated legal prejudice but Jagan didn’t remember the dignity and respect of the former CM back then. But now that his party leaders are getting the same treatment, he is remembering all these idealistic statements again, an anguished TDP supporter commented.
