Vote Chori: Election Commission’s Strong Counter To Rahul

The Election Commission of India has given a sharp counter to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s recent allegations of “vote chori.” During a press conference on Sunday, the ECI gave Rahul Gandhi an ultimatum to submit an affidavit substantiating his claims within seven days or tender a public apology.

The Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that Rahul’s allegations without enough evidence would be considered baseless. The ECI has dismissed Rahul’s claims, emphasising that the Congress leader has no credible evidence to support his vote chori allegations.

The CEC further said that the allegations of double voting and vote theft are unfounded and also added that efforts to ensure a transparent electoral process through Special Intensive Revision (SIR) were continuing in full force. He further alleged that political parties were using the Election Commission to manipulate voters for political gains.

CEC Gyanesh Kumar went on to criticize Rahul’s allegations, terming them an “insult to the Constitution,” and added that such allegations undermine the integrity of the country’s democratic institutions. He vowed that the EC stands firm with the voters across all communities, ensuring a free, fair, and impartial electoral process. “The commission would continue its work without fear or favor, despite any false allegations being hurled at it,” he added.

Reacting to ECI’s seven-day deadline during the launch of his Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar, Rahul Gandhi slammed the Election Commission’s bias and questioned why the ECI had demanded an affidavit only from him and not from BJP leaders who had also made public remarks on irregularities in the electoral process.
