It’s Official: Jagan Picks NDA Side!

The stage is set for the election of India’s new Vice President. The NDA has already announced CP Radhakrishnan as its candidate, while the INDIA Bloc has named Sudershan Reddy.

Now, YSR Congress has officially declared its support for the NDA nominee. This was confirmed by Jagan’s close aide and Rajya Sabha MP YV Subba Reddy, who announced that the party will back Radhakrishnan in the upcoming election.

It was always unlikely that Jagan would support the INDIA candidate, given his reluctance toward Rahul Gandhi. But his repeated unconditional support for the NDA at the national level, including now in the VP elections, is bound to raise discussions.

On one hand, Jagan often criticizes the NDA government when it comes to Andhra Pradesh. On the other, he consistently extends support to the same NDA in Parliament whenever needed.

That said, this decision also appears to be a pragmatic one. Backing the NDA in the Vice Presidential election can be seen as a move in the nation’s larger interest.
