Hindu Girls Must Stop Going to the Gym: BJP MLA

In the recent past, we have been seeing several social media posts about women getting trapped by gym trainers. There were even a couple of shocking new articles about married women killing their husbands and eloping with their gym personnel. 

This series of events has now triggered a pretty controversial statement from a BJP MLA from Maharashtra named Gopichand Padalkar. He advised women from the Hindu community to stay away from gym and instead exercise at their home such as Yoga.

“Hindu girls must stop going to gyms. Even if they do, they must be very cautious about the nature of the gym trainer. The family members must take it as a role of thumb to council the female members who go to gym and teach them about the risks. We are seeing these trainers exploiting Hindu women and ruining lives.” The BJP MLA said in a public meeting yesterday. 

As expected, this controversial take from the MLA has triggered a social media debate. Several people are commenting that it is not good on the part of this public representative to look to confine the basic rights of women by advising them not to go to the gym. They are calling this chauvinism and calling out the MLA for even making communally inappropriate remarks.
