Despite the repeated notifications and calls from the Andhra Pradesh assembly speaker, Jagan is finding it hard to make it to the Assembly sessions. Instead, he has been asking for opposition leader status if he is to set foot in the assembly which is out of the jurisdiction of the speaker and the government.
Deputy speaker, Raghu Rama Krishna Raju has reacted on the situation now, and he had a sharp remark on Jagan.
“It has been 35 consecutive days since Jagan skipped the Assembly. If he goes on to skip another 25 days, then it would total out to 60 full working days in his absence and once that happens, we will be left with no other option but to disqualify Jagan.” RRR stated.
RRR pointed out that it is within the constitutional limits to disqualify an MLA who skipped the assembly sessions for 60 consecutive days.
Reacting to the political commentary about how Chandrababu also skipped the Assembly for the last two years before the 2024 election, RRR give much clarity on the same. “When Chandra Babu Garu skipped the Assembly before 2024 election, the sessions weren’t held full fledgedly. Only 35 working sessions were completed in the two year period. So there is no precedent to disqualify Babu as he dint complete 60 days in absence.”
