High Alert! Cyclone Montha Heads Toward Andhra Pradesh

A massive threat is looming over Andhra Pradesh as powerful Cyclone Montha is rapidly moving toward the coast. Weather officials warn that the system is highly intense and is likely to become the strongest cyclone of the year.

According to current projections, Montha is expected to cross the Andhra Pradesh coastline either around midnight on October 28 or during the early hours of October 29. The period from October 26 to 29 has been declared extremely critical.

Meteorologists indicate that the cyclone’s impact will be widespread, extending from Visakhapatnam to Tirupati, triggering severe weather conditions across multiple districts. Telangana, including Hyderabad, is also likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall during this period.

Wind speeds are expected to range between 70 to 100 km/h, particularly in coastal belts, raising serious concerns about property damage and disruptions in daily life.

With the situation intensifying, a red alert has been issued for Andhra Pradesh, particularly across low-lying and coastal districts. The authorities have advised strict precautions.

Precautionary Measures Suggested

Fishermen have been strongly warned not to venture into the sea under any circumstances. People living in low-lying and lanka regions must stay alert and be prepared for possible evacuations. Control rooms are expected to be set up for continuous monitoring and emergency response.

Schools and Colleges Likely to Be Shut

Considering the severity of weather conditions, officials have suggested declaring holidays for schools and colleges on October 28 and 29 in affected coastal districts.

Travel Alert

Long-distance travelers have been advised to avoid travel during this high-risk period, especially along central coastal routes.

High-Risk Zones Identified

Central coastal Andhra regions, especially

Machilipatnam
Diviseema
Vijayawada
Guntur
Eluru
East and West Godavari districts,

are expected to experience intense rainfall and strong winds.

Public Urged to Stay Cautious

Authorities have called on residents to remain calm yet alert, follow official advisories, and stay updated on further developments.
