The Jubilee Hills by-election in Telangana has turned into a digital battleground, with BRS working president KTR using the controversial “HYDRAA” issue as his main campaign weapon. Once a topic of public outrage, HYDRAA has now become the centerpiece of BRS’s emotional pitch to voters.
KTR, known for his tech-savvy campaigning style, has taken election outreach to the next level. His campaign events and roadshows are now featuring large LED screens displaying emotional visuals of HYDRAA-affected residents, people whose homes were reportedly demolished under the Congress government. Through these videos, KTR is directly showcasing the voices of those who claim to have lost everything due to the “HYDRAA demolitions.”
In almost every speech, KTR invokes the HYDRAA issue, portraying it as a symbol of Congress’s failures. He tells voters that the destruction of poor families’ homes in the name of urban projects reflects the “arrogance” of the current government. Calling on people to “vote for the car symbol” if they don’t want such destruction to reach their doorstep, KTR is framing the by-election as a fight for justice for the displaced.
BRS believes this emotional, tech-driven strategy will resonate deeply with urban voters, especially those frustrated by recent demolitions and administrative chaos. The campaign is being seen as a test for whether the HYDRAA narrative can convert sympathy into votes.
Whether this high-voltage, digitally powered strategy will turn the tide in favor of BRS or not remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: KTR has turned HYDRAA into both a symbol of protest and a powerful political tool.
