GHMC Slipping Away! Time For KCR To Wake Up

The counting for the Jubilee Hills by poll is underway, and it is now clear that Congress candidate Naveen Yadav is heading toward a big victory. He is leading BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha by more than 19,000 votes. Naveen is expected to win with a huge margin, which comes as a major shock to the opposition party.

GHMC has always been considered a fortress for the BRS Party since the formation of Telangana. Even in the 2023 elections, BRS won 16 out of 18 seats it contested in the GHMC region. However, after Congress came to power, BRS gradually began losing its strength. Although BRS and its working president KTR still believe that Hyderabad is with them, the by poll results in Secunderabad Cantonment and Jubilee Hills show that their stronghold is slipping. It is clearly time for party chief K Chandrasekhar Rao to wake up and work actively for the revival of the party in this crucial region.

BRS was confident about winning the Jubilee Hills seat despite losing the Secunderabad Cantonment by election last year. KCR once again did not step out for campaigning, leaving the entire responsibility to KTR. Even Harish Rao could not participate actively due to his father’s passing. Now it is evident that KTR’s influence in Hyderabad, especially in a premium constituency like Jubilee Hills, is fading. Despite campaigning in every zone, BRS could not take a lead in any part of the constituency.

KCR also avoided campaigning during the Cantonment by election. After losing that contest, he had a chance to boost his party by coming forward and taking an active role this time. But he did not do that, and the party has paid a heavy price.

On the other side, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and several Congress Ministers campaigned strongly for Naveen Yadav and played a major role in his victory. This win, along with last year’s Cantonment success, will boost Congress morale in Hyderabad ahead of the 2028 Assembly Elections.

Meanwhile, clear cracks are visible in the BRS fortress, and it is time for KCR to wake up and save his party in the capital region.
