The land acquisition process for the upcoming Google Data Center in Vizag has moved forward at a remarkable pace, giving a big push to one of the most awaited digital infrastructure projects in AP. With compensation beginning to reach farmers today, officials say the groundwork is now almost ready for the foundation stone to be laid.
The data center which is planned across 588 acres marks a major investment in the region’s technology ecosystem. According to district authorities, the land has been pooled from three key locations: 308 acres in Tharluwada, 120 acres in Adavivaram, and 160 acres in Rambilli. Each of these areas has been part of ongoing consultations with local communities, and disbursal of compensation signals that the process is entering its final stages.
For many farmers, the quick turnaround has come as a relief as several had been waiting for clarity on rates and timelines, and the start of payments has brought a sense of stability and trust. Revenue officials have observed that most landowners cooperated with the acquisition, seeing the long-term economic potential such a giant project could bring to the region.
The state government has positioned the Google Data Center as a key driver of future development. Once completed, it is expected to boost digital services, improve connectivity, and create both direct and indirect employment opportunities in and around Vizag city.
Large-scale data centers typically support a range of allied industries, from construction to maintenance, and officials believe the benefits will extend well beyond the immediate project site.
With the major procedural hurdles now almost cleared, the focus shifts to the upcoming foundation-laying ceremony. As the process moves ahead, residents and officials alike are watching closely, hopeful that this momentum will carry into the next phase of development.
