The long pending case involving Andhra Pradesh Assembly Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju has finally moved forward, giving him a sense of relief after years of waiting.
During the previous YCP government, the then YCP MP RRR, openly questioned the government’s actions and criticized former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy. Instead of addressing the concerns raised by their own MP, the then government allegedly targeted him. This led to a serious incident where Raghurama was arrested on his birthday in Hyderabad and transported to Vijayawada. He later accused officials of mistreating him while he was held in a Guntur police station that night.
The Supreme Court intervened at that time and directed that he be shifted to the Army Hospital in Hyderabad for proper medical examination. His complaint about custodial assault eventually led to the formation of a Special Investigation Team after the new coalition government took charge.
The SIT, headed by the Vizianagaram SP, has already questioned several officers who worked on the case. However, the key officer Raghurama has been waiting to see questioned is the then Ex CID chief, Sunil Kumar, who supervised his arrest.
Now, there is finally movement. Notices have been issued to Sunil Kumar, who is currently serving in Bihar, directing him to appear before the SIT on December 4. With this, Raghurama believes the truth behind what happened that night, and who was truly responsible, will finally come out.
