The Karnataka government is usually known for its unexpected decisions, and they were back on the job after the horrifying stampede at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru back in June this year. After this incident that killed several individuals at the RCB victory parade, the Karnataka government proposed the plan to build a new stadium in the outskirts of Bengaluru.
It was extensively reported that the Congress government in Karnataka is against holding the IPL games at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in the future as it’s at the heart of the city and runs the risk of such incidents.
Subsequently, there were media reports about the RCB Stadium looking to enforce Pune cricket Stadium as its home ground for the 2026 season and then opening the talks for the same as well.
But the latest developments are suggesting that the Karnataka government has taken a U-turn on this decision. It is being established that the Karnataka government is indeed hopeful of holding the IPL games at Chinnaswamy Stadium by 2026 season.
Deputy chief Minister DK Siva Kumar communicated that Chinnaswamy Stadium is the pride of Bengaluru and it is a privilege to host IPL games here. He pointed out that the government is committed to holding the IPL games here but they will take elevated measures to make sure fateful incidents don’t happen in the future.
