Last week turned into a highly disappointing period for Indian air travelers as the civil aviation system almost came to a halt because of the ongoing IndiGo crisis. Thousands of flights were cancelled without warning, causing huge trouble for passengers. As a result, other airlines suddenly increased ticket prices, which made the situation even worse.
The entire country expressed anger over this chaos, and the Civil Aviation Minister of India, Ram Mohan Naidu, addressed the issue strongly in the Rajya Sabha today.
Ram Mohan Naidu sounded serious and firm as he warned every airline and operator about strict consequences for what has happened.
“We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to passengers. We noticed nearly five lakh PNR cancellations in just two to three days. A total of five hundred sixty nine crore rupees was refunded to passengers on time,” the minister said.
He further stated that serious action will be taken on the responsible company and individuals, and the punishment will be so strict that no airline in the future will dare to repeat such mistakes.
It is clear that the Civil Aviation Minister is extremely upset with the events of the last week, and he is ready to set a strong example so that any airline failing to follow rules will face serious regret later.
