That for those who don’t already know the Indian women’s cricket team made the entire country proud by winning the World Cup recently. While the nation generally comes together to celebrate the victory of the men’s and women’s team, this triumph by the differently abled went rather unnoticed.
However, Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan was absolutely moved by the determination, and he did something remarkable today.
Congratulating the cricketers who won the World Cup, Kalyan presented cheques of Rs. 5 lakhs each to every female cricketer and Rs. 2 lakhs each to the coaches. He honored them by presenting gifts including silk sarees and shawls for each female cricketer, along with mementos, Kondapalli dolls, and Araku coffee.
On the occasion, he praised the achievement of the women’s blind cricketers as a matter of pride for the nation. He assured that he would personally appeal to the Chief Ministers of all states to provide special facilities for the practice of blind cricketers and to stand by them in every way.
Speaking briefly, Pawan Kalyan said he watched a video on social media, where a member of the women’s blind team spoke about dreaming to build a house for herself after winning the World Cup. “It pained me to see a world champion from India still dreaming about building a house even after winning the World Cup. So, I wanted to do my part of contribution and there will be more such assistance in the future as well.”
