Visakhapatnam’s journey towards becoming a major IT hub in Andhra Pradesh is picking up strong momentum. After the recent ground breaking ceremony by Cognizant and the start of its operations from a temporary facility, Tata Consultancy Services is now stepping in with a major expansion plan, further strengthening Vizag’s IT story.
TCS is preparing to begin its operations at Millennium Towers in Visakhapatnam. This marks another significant addition to the city’s growing technology ecosystem. As part of the initial phase, the company will set up a 2,000 seat transit office, which is expected to become operational from January 2026. This temporary facility will help TCS start work quickly while the permanent campus takes shape.
Alongside this, plans are in motion for laying the foundation stone of the full scale TCS Visakhapatnam campus. Once construction is completed, the permanent campus is expected to be fully functional by the end of 2027. This long term investment reflects TCS’s confidence in Vizag’s infrastructure, skilled workforce, and future growth prospects.
The arrival of TCS at this scale is likely to generate thousands of employment opportunities for local talent. It is also expected to encourage other IT and technology focused companies to look at Vizag as a viable destination. The ripple effect will be seen in real estate, transport, retail, and other support sectors.
With steady government support, improving connectivity, and a growing list of IT majors setting up base, Visakhapatnam is steadily positioning itself as Andhra Pradesh’s biggest IT powerhouse. The combined presence of companies like Cognizant and TCS could play a crucial role in transforming the city into a preferred destination for both global firms and young professionals.
